Bonus post! Had a little extra time this weekend and got on here! This one is a rewritten version of one I wrote couple of years ago. It was a little emotional to write at the time and still tugs at my heart when I read it. I once knew how to sing it but the tune’s not as memorable as it once was.
As always, enjoy and critique to your heart’s content.
Drops of Crimson
Drops of blood rolled to the ground
Of that dark, silent garden
As my Lord agonized alone
Prayers of Jesus the only sound
In that dark, silent garden
As my Lord surrendered His will
Drops of blood ran down His back
From the stripes of the scourge
As my Lord silently suffered.
Crown of thorns, mocking and slaps
And the stripes of the scourge
As my Lord bore chastisement for me
Drops of blood fell from the cross
As He cried out, “Forgive them
For they do not know what they do.”
Guilt of the world weighed down the Savior
As he cried out,”It’s finished!”
And my Lord gave up His life for me.
In my place He chose to die.
For my He laid down His life.
This is my redemption.
He is my redemption.
As the payment for my treason,
There fell down drops of crimson.
Hallelujah! He took my place.
Hallelujah! How grand the grace
That would save a wretch like me!
Hallelujah! The chains are gone!
Hallelujah! His love has won!
So I’m now can say, “I’m free!”
As the payment for my treason
There fell down drops of crimson.
