  • @this-is-not-an-alien Hi! Thanks so much for the response and I am sorry it has taken me this long to respond myself. I appreciate your perspective and ability to explore trauma. My goal is to have a similarity in weight to one of my favorite book series Chronicles of the Kings by Lynn Austin (highly recommend if you haven’t read it). One of the…[Read more]

Agreed. I really care about emotional impact in my writing on all levels.

That is actually in the story too. 😛 Lydia was intended to trigger the escape so someone from ‘her’ household raises the alarm. Ambrose takes an arrow to the shoulder and because the Kisi tribe uses arrows shaped like corkscrews, they can’t get it out, so they…[Read more]

  • @calidris Yeah, I totally agree that Christians should be people who talk about hard topics with grace and truth, in art and in the church, etc. My audience is intended to be adults and mature young adults. Ambrose starts as a teen, but a late teen like 18/19 or so, and by the time we make it to enslavement he is likely going to be a year or two…[Read more]

  • @calidris Yoh! You just hit the nail on the head! Yeah, this is the type of advice I am looking for. I have literally been wrestling with those types of questions about the character… I definitely have the purpose in mind to show a story of restoration and redemption, definitely not out for willy-nilly here. The context is intended to be one of…[Read more]

Hi, yeah I am pretty new. Thanks for the input. Yeah, she does end up having to tell him at some point before the escape and Yona would really struggle with it because of the dishonor he feels. The problem I am having is really what kind of journey to take them on together after that point where said escape takes place. How is the pair going to…[Read more]

    Sure thing!

  • Hey, Kinda late to the party but I got some comments from the peanut gallery. I think a lot of what Christians can consume comes down to their personal freedom and their personal weaknesses. Each person needs to discern with their people and God, what they can and can’t handle. Some read LOTR, some can’t, some read Harry Potter, some adamantly…[Read more]

  • Hey, so I am working on an outline for a story about an African teen named Ambrose whose fictional tribe was basically anialated by rebels, and he gets caught on the edge of an explosion that scars his face which leads him to Medical personal Yona and his Irish wife Lydia “Bibi Miti”. After a series of events Ambrose, Yona and Lydia enter this…[Read more]

Gee, your character is gonna need some serious therapy for all that trauma and PTSD. 🙂

  • Adnyole posted a new activity comment 3 years, 4 months ago

I don’t see why not. He could use even fentanyl if he had to (it is used in medicine sometimes). Analgesics (pain meds) basically block the pain signals in the brain or nervous system. There are tons of pain meds so that seems perfectly fine to me. Just, uh, watch your guy for physical dependence and addiction cause a fellow with that much…[Read more]

Hey, no worries. So research can be as simple as google and youtube and as complex as a peer-reviewed article from a publication journal. the trick is just making sure you’ve got reliability so always look for information provided by universities, or professionals and just check those resources against each other for discrepancies. There’s lots of…[Read more]

Oh, and to the other questions, electrocution effects are going to depend entirely on the voltage, current, and amperage of electricity in use. It is also going to depend on the duration of direct electrical exposure. It is definitely going to affect the electrical conduction of the heart and muscles, likely causing injury over time. It is…[Read more]

Hi, I happen to be some studying burns in school, I am also a bit of a nerd and would love to give you a hand. First, a person can lose a limb due to fire, but most likely as the result of an amputation from burn complications such as infection, or compartment syndrome (essential circulation is cut off from the limb because the burn circles the…[Read more]

For severe pain: opiates ie. morphine, codeine, oxycodone, hydromorphone etc. Or plain old opium if going for a more old school/medieval type approach to medicine. Mild pain: Asprin, Ibuprophen. Asprin is a derivative from certain trees, people used cocaine leaves in the past. How severe is “your pain” and what medicinal method would you like to use?

    • My protagonist is experiencing severe pain as his body slowly adjusts to a power he receives where he can control the atoms in his body/objects he touches, mostly just turning things into dust, or in the case of his body, being able to control its density, enabling him to pass through objects and turn parts of himself into dust and back to…[Read more]
