Wow that’s so cool! I love how languages evolve and combine lots of different languages.
Exactly! It began as a common language because there were so many groups that began to communicate! That’s also why the grammar is so simple. It has no declinations, which is honestly a blessing.
That’s awful, I hope something is done to rescue it!
Girl – cultures are destroyed or half dead because of the British. There’s a great film called ‘The Nightingale’ that highlights the oppression the Irish and the Native Tasmanians went through. It’s very violent though, so I wouldn’t watch unless you can stomach it. And I am really not kidding, like it replicates the violence of the times it was set in. But it highlights issues that the British Empire was responsible for, like indentured servitude, forced deportation, sexual abuse and genocide, which are very important.
Plus the sad thing is that in some cases, a lot of people sort of went along with the whole spiel the British army were doing. Random fact – I discovered very recently that several of my ancestors served in the Royal Irish Constabulary – the police in Ireland doing the Crown’s dirty work, like evictions, killings and food removals. It’s the definition of people turning against their own
That’s so interesting! Exactly!
They caused so much havoc in South Africa. They turned everyone on each other and caused so much cruelty. Also a random fact, my great-grandfather was in one of the concentration camps at the time of the second Boer war. (Yes. Those existed.) I had another relation, (not a direct ancestor though, as far as I know) that was a Boer general in that war, and I think there were a couple more in lower ranks. The Boer war were absolute chaos.
Oh really what did you think of it? Hard isn’t it XD
Ugh, YES! It was freakishly hard and I still have no idea how I passed XD
Without darkness, there is no light. If there was no nighttime, would the stars be as bright?
