Renner and Erin

Renner stared out the window of his little hut. His fists were clenched in anger. He reached up and wiped his streaming eyes on the back of his sleeve.
He hated his family, he hated Jen, and he hated being different. Family doesn’t matter anyway. And if they really loved me, they wouldn’t have sent me away!
Renner squeezed his eyes shut and leaned his head on the glass. His necklace swung forward and hit the window. The small clink made him open his eyes, the locket had opened and he could just see the picture of him and his little sister. Grief stabbed his heart and he sobbed. Why was it so hard?
“Why can’t I just forget them!?” He sank to the floor and sat there for what felt like hours.
His gaze drifted around the room and landed on the picture of Jen. Why did he still have her stupid picture? He stood up and walked over to it. His vision started to blur and soon he was back at the door of her house.
Renner pounded on her door and stepped back, waiting for her to come out. Soon the door opened to reveal her father. “Renner, what are you doing here so late?”
“I have to speak with Jen, please!”
Her father backed away from the door still watching Renner and called Jen. A couple of seconds later she appeared wearing her sweatpants and a t-shirt. “Renner, what’s wrong?!”
“I have to speak to you. Alone,” he added.
Jen smiled at her father then walked out, closing the door behind her.
Renner’s heart beat to fast as he told her. Jen’s mouth opened in horror and she started to back away, shaking her head.
“Jen wait. What are you doing? You’re my best friend!”
Jen shook her head one last time. “Go away. You have to leave!” she almost screamed. Then she turned and ran.
Renner’s cry for her to stop was lost as she slammed the door behind her.
Renner jerked back to the future. “Why would you do that to me!?” he yelled.
He grabbed her picture and flung it across the room. The glass shattered as it hit the wall and the picture fell to the floor. He knocked his books off the table then picked up her picture and ripped it into pieces. He hated her.

Hey Olivia!! 👋 Great to hear from you. 😊 Wow I’m sure you’ve been busy with moving! What made you guys move? I’ve been pretty busy myself… I took it upon myself to audit a seminary NT Greek class. It’s been very intense to say the least. 😂 The teacher covers a chapter every 3 days. But it’s been super cool to read a little in the Greek NT! Unfortunately, a lot of things (like writing) have been on the back burner. XD I feel like I only have time for Greek and violin every day lol. Have you been up to anything fun with music?
