Korynth, Iyan, and Jin:

Light was barely glowing in the eastern sky as Korynth and Iyan reached the tower with their prisoner. The trek to the tower had been a long, cold one and Korynth was glad for Iyan’s sake that it was over. Just the same he hated every time he had to take someone to the Tower of Punishment. He knew Iyan felt the same way.

It was such an awful place. It loomed above them, tall and unforgiving, silhouetted against the orange glow of the sunrise. Its walls were built with large blocks of rough-hewn gray stone. Little room was made for windows, only a few small openings could be seen and each of them was secured with a steel grating. Korynth shivered. It was such a dark place and the things that went on inside were horrifying. He sometimes really couldn’t believe he brought people here. But they were criminals after all. . . weren’t they?

“Could you knock for me, Iyan?” Korynth spoke softly.

Iyan jumped, “Uhh. . . sure,” he replied dazedly as he lifted his hand and knocked on the door
