Hmm. so probably I misunderstood you, but it was for good 😉but that might be a cool addition to the species.Beautiful drawing!
Do your people have weapons (in case of attack)? If so, what type do they use?Hmm… In case of attack – probably by more savage desert people, or maybe by merchants who want to conquer their oases – they’ll mainly use magic. Sandstorms, fast-floods, maybe even burying whole armies under migrating dunes… Try to fight against the desert itself!
Maybe they’ll also raise an ad-hock army made of volunteers, like the ancient Israelites. Such army will probably use…
- Slings – herders have always loved slings, and there are plenty of stones in the desert.
- Spears, with heads of bone, stone, or wood hardened in the fire.
- Maybe they use also metal spears and axes, traded from merchants that pass in their oases, probably for date products and livestock.
- They’ll protect themselves with shields of thick reptile leather. Slingers might even use shields of straw or reed, that are supposed just to protect them from arrows and stones.
- Wealthy warriors might also use some kind of light armor, that protects them from superficial blows – plates for the thorax and back, gaiters, and a helmet – all are made of leather, strengthened with metal scales.
This army will probably use mostly guerrilla tactics – raiding the enemy army, ambushing, and if they feel confident enough, they might even face them in a frontal battle. Combined with magic, such strategy would be dangerous.
