Hello all of you people of Parimi Alca!

Have you noticed that we don’t have a title for ourselves? I mean, are we Parimi Alcaran? *squints* And we don’t even know what this random world around us is? We have no culture, no history, no sayings or pets.

Maybe it is time to change that.

This is going to be a thread for… WORLDBUILDING.

Here, we are going to build the world of Parimi Alca!

Some questions we should consider:

Genre of our world. (Fantasy, dystopian, steampunk, fairytale, contemporary, sci-fi)

Our name. (Parimi Alcarans? Parimis?)

Quirks to our culture. (Food, songs, traditions)

What does our world look like?

Why are we all here in the one spot? (Raised thusly? Sent on a mission? Magically appeared? Created cos we’re cyborgs?)

Coat of arms or symbol?

Legends, myths, heroes of old?

If fantasy, magic system?

Pets?

 

That should be enough to get us started. Please note: This is NOT to take over your current WIPs. If I feel it is being too much of a distraction, I will close the thread temporarily. I mean, just imagine this for a moment:

I sit down at the computer, flexing my fingers and sucking in a deep breath. This is the day. This is the day I will manage to write 10k. I will be able to do it. My fingertips hover of the keys and I hesitate. I should really make sure I’ve let the guild know what I’m doing. Maybe they’ll have some advice. The cursor moves to the bookmarked page and I double click it, opening the page to join the other seventeen websites of distraction and procrastination—no! Inspiration. That’s what they are.

I scroll through the forum, a grin spreading over my face as I see the others who are on. The thread for, “Out of the Darkness, a World Rises” pops up and I click on it. Yessss, I love this one so much! Maybe just a few minutes of world building. I could see if I could create a language, or maybe add to that myth I was planning on doing a few days ago.

The next time I look at the clock, my heart sinks into my writhing gut. No way. I did not just spend my precious day of writing on the guild.

Please no.

Not this.

Tears force their way past my tightly shut eyes and drip onto the keyboard. Only one hour left. I need to go and mourn with my guild.

Maybe Parimi Alca will have a phrase for this emotion on the “Out of the Darkness, a World Rises thread”…

 

*coughs* So, please enjoy world building, but remember that there is more than just world building for our guild.
