This one was written after a time of pondering about the question “Why do you do what you do?”  (Maybe I took the question a bit too seriously?) Anyway, this is what I wrote. Enjoy and critique to your heart’s content.

Why do I do the things I do?
Why do I claim to follow You?
Why did I choose to lose the life I knew?
Why do I do the things I do?

What is the purpose for my life?
What is the reason for this strife?
What if there isn’t any afterlife?
What is the purpose for my life?

Where is the love I claim to hold?
Where in my heart Your love untold?
Where do I place that love so manifold?
Where is the love I claim to hold?

How will they know that it is true?
How will they know? They have no clue.
How will I show them? How will I break through?
How will they know that it is true?

When do I live like I love You?
When did I tell them You rescue?
When did I hold Your Word in high value?
When do I live like I love You?

Who is the one I am living for?
Who is the one I’ll always adore?
Who is the God that I’ll praise and implore?
Who is the One I am living for?
You are the One I am living for!

Why do you Lord love me still?
Why when all these questions from me spill,
Why do You strengthen me, my needs fulfill?
Why do you Lord love me still?

Why do I do the things I do?
Why, it is because I love You!
How can I serve You until I’m made new?
For You I’ll do the things I do.
