    So… We had said we wanted to have this done two days before the deadline…which means we have TWO DAYS to get writing and editing. I made up a suggestion outline using tentative names, so of course we don’t have to use this, but if anyone finds it helpful:

    Scene One: Town Anniversary celebration; accident with fire (fireworks?) kills Matthias(?)’s parents

    Scene Two: Matthias is at school, Joshua(?) reaches out, their dialogue reveals how Matthias’s life and attitude have changed

    Scene Three: Matt and Josh have grown up, Matt tells Josh about his plans for revenge on the town’s anniversary, Josh has scruples but is going along with it

    Scene Four: Celebration approaches, Josh argues with Matt but still doesn’t have the courage to completely reject the plan

    Scene Five: Matt burns the town and Josh doesn’t succeed in stopping him but then reveals that he’s evacuated the town, so all the people are ok.

    Ending: happy because Josh made the right decision even though it was hard, non-cliche because there’s still a burned town and a broken friendship that will have to be dealt with in the future
