This one has not been proofread yet. I wrote it other day when I was getting frustrated about something. In the middle of my little snit, the words of the chorus came to my mind. I typed them out, then as the minutes ticked by, more of the song filtered through my frustration. It wasn’t an instant fix, but it helped me get my mind off my problem and onto Him.
Hope y’all (sorry I live in KY) enjoy this and, as always, feel free to comment critique and post poems of your own or even ask for some pointers.
Patience Please
Perfect Your patience in me
Lord I know that you’re so patient with me
If I’m to be patient with the people around me
I need you to perfect Your patience in meThis life rides up and down
Sometimes a smile melts into a frown
The plans ravel at the seams
Somehow nothing works with you it seemsImpatient and spinning wheels
So sick of this world’s hoops and deals
Irritated and blue all round
Attitude is the key that I’ve foundPatience is a virtue I lack
I’ve got to get my life back on trackPerfect Your patience in me
Lord I know that you’re so patient with me
If I’m to be patient with the people around me
I need you to perfect Your patience in meWhen life doesn’t go my way
Whose plan is my focus anyway?
Do I worship only myself
Just two choices are on my shelfThinking of others or of me?
Self serving first has a high fee.
Lord, life is a gift from You
Lord I should be patient in all that I doPerfect Your patience in me
Lord I know that you’re so patient with me
If I’m to be patient with the people around me
I need you to perfect Your patience in meThis life rides up and down
Let’s turn a smile back from a frown
When plans ravel at the seams
Ravels can weave back into dreamsI’ll think of them instead of me.
Self serving first has a high fee.
Lord, life is a gift from You
Lord I should be patient in all that I doPerfect Your patience in me
Lord I know that you’re so patient with me
If I’m to be patient with the people around me
I need you to perfect Your patience in meJames 1:4-8 King James Version
But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
