@msqueen I got in the habit at 14 of writing every evening from 7:30 to 9:40. It was the only free time I had, so I knew I had to make the most of it. In the last few years I’ve been learning to be a little less rigid in my schedule and make time for other things in that slot, because I was on the verge of making it an idol, but it definitely helps to have the habit down. I probably won’t have this chunk of time entirely free my whole life (hoping at some point to be a wife and mom, which means a lot less ‘me’ time 😉 ), but I’m pretty sure because of the habits I’ve formed that my brain will always be programmed to think of evenings as ‘writing time’.

If you don’t have large chunks of time where you can sit down and write without interruption, a word limit might be a good idea. You can take fifteen minutes here, ten minutes there, and instead of filling up on time you can fill up on words. 😉
