The In-Between
I walk the length of another road, but endless paths branch from it in every direction. The journey was arduous but rewarding in strengthening me so I can climb another mountain. I’ve learned from the steps I’ve taken and the hurdles I’ve leapt over, even when the rocks seemed too tall, too daunting for me to ever hope of overcoming.
Prayer for the Artist
Sister, I see your arms are trembling. Brother, I see your tears, your stone-set face, how this fire rattling in your bones, shut up no longer, has burned you in the telling.
Announcing the Winners of Our Third Poetry Contest
Thanks to everyone who courageously shared their work with us! We received entries that were whimsical as well as touching, in a wide range of styles and lengths. After many hours of reading and rating each poem, Daeus and Cindy made their decisions. The results were close, because they saw potential in several of the pieces, and we hope that will encourage you to compete in future contests.
Midnight Thoughts
Midnight thoughts surround me, messy and monstrous, so I tread carefully. I slip between the forests built of whispers of words, searching for possibilities.
Spaceless Race
I run a race that no one can see, but too often I lag behind. I watch the leaves glide on the wind and wonder what it’s like to bide time. When I pause to take a breath, the wind shoves an unchecked task list into my clenched hand.
