How like the mountain, confident, the world around me stands, defiant hands upon hips, lips issuing demands. Am I the only shattered soul who’s sometimes lost her way?
I Hear a Train
I hear a train piercing the night, loud in the dark, quiet in light. Why does it cry while mankind sleeps? Most hear a whistle; I hear a weep.
Handprint Heart
There are handprints on my heartbeat, a few smudges on my veins from all the people who have touched my life and left their stains. Some marks have taught me kindness, and some scars have taught me love. Some have shown me all the things I want to free my heart of.
Heaven’s Glitter
Silver bells ring, tinkling to “Let It Snow.” Dozens of lights blink the colors of the rainbow. Bows, strings, paper, and tape clutter the floor. Cards avalanche when you open the door, sparkling all December long.
Forgiveness
For many days this hurt has grown. My conscience weighs with guilt that’s known to self alone; a sense of right bestows itself upon my plight.
