By the way, I quite liked Endbringer, though I think I still need another couple read-throughs to understand it properly. It’s funny – I immediately began thinking of the song “O’Death”, specifically the cover performed for Until Dawn – which I totally wasn’t listening to nonstop while writing this short story.

Also, because I’m ridiculously obsessed with this tory and because the comments so far (thanks Kelly, Audrey, Sophia, Martin, and Danya whatever your tag is)  have been superbly illuminating in how to fix this hot mess –

I have draft 2.
This version ends around 5k words instead of 8.7k, in the first night in the church instead of the extended arc, for which there ain’t no way in heck I can cram all that in for this contest. Ach! Would that I had written this LAST YEAR!

1) Very beginning has some background cut out.

2) Myrrha’s tantrum / epileptic moment right before meeting Mitts is changed.

3) The campfire scene has been made more active.

4) Ending is massively different.
