@anne_the_noob14 @j-a-penrose Yes! I am ALL for the idea of it being from the perspective of the prince’s sarcastic horse. Oooh, how about something like this?
- Prince and horse are best friends.
- Prince decides to rescue princess.
- Prince falls in love with princess and ignores horse. Horse is jealous. (And he’s also bemoaning the fact that he’ll have to lug around the princess and all her trunks of clothing and jewels. :P)
- Horse decides to spoil prince’s plans to rescue princess.
- Horse’s plans fail and prince rescues princess.
- Horse decides that as long as his friend is happy, it doesn’t really matter if he is ignored.
- At just the right moment, horse accidentally exposes that princess is evil, and thus rescues prince from a lifetime of misery.
- Horse and prince are best friends again and go off on adventures together.
Goodness. I just wrote an outline. *gapes at it*
What do you guys think? Anyone love the sarcastic horse as much as I do? xD This way, we would have a very familiar, cliched story—made more interesting with a different POV—that has a happy twist at the end (at least for the horse) which is not cliched. Like Jess said, it would be cool for the story to be cliched up till the end, where there’s a twist and the cliche is busted. (Plus, there’s a horse named Charlie at the place where I take riding lessons, and he would be a perfect character for the story. He’s such a goof. :P)

P.S. Also, again, I think it would be good if we worked together to compile a list of what makes endings cliche, so that when we write ours, we can check it and make sure we’ve avoided everything.
