Princess Foo replied to the topic CD Week 17: negative arcs {discussion} in the forum Weekly Theme Discussion 7 years, 3 months ago
I know this discussion is weeks old but I found a negative character arc and I want to talk about it. It’s Jaina Proudmoore from World of Warcraft.
So Jaina’s, like pretty much everyone on WoW, has a Tragic Backstory. The relevant parts of hers are sung about in this super awesome song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fo7XPvwRgG8 Basically, her…[Read more]

Guys, the first draft got finished!!!! *Happy dance* Honestly, I didn’t think we were going to finish it on time, and was preparing to slap on a “Then he believed in Jesus and lived happily ever after.” ending on. But the SUPER AMAZING @hope-ann swooped in and saved the day! We now have a story!
But it wasn’t just Hope-Ann that helped. I was…[Read more]

@hope-ann It is midnight Sunday night. You need to send Daues the link via Facebook. Are you friends with him?

@hope-ann I love it! By the way, did you get my pm about sending the story to Daeus on Sunday? Karthmin can’t do it this month because he is the judge. If you can’t, Karthmin can arrange for another guildmaster to.

@hope-ann @morreafirebird Please go ahead and write the story forward.
That goes for everyone. The writers need help!

Princess Foo replied to the topic Prompt War: Conversion Scene in the forum Announcements 7 years, 3 months ago
@hope-ann It probably depends on what kind of edit. If you aren’t sure, or it is a large edit, like “I think this entire page needs to be rewritten”, then you should comment. But rephrasing sentences, typos, and grammer edits can be done without needing confirmation.

Calling all the troops! (Except Karthmin. He isn’t invited.) @seekjustice and @kelly-lundgren need some help! The opening looks good but we don’t have that much written, and I would like the first draft to be done by Friday so we can edit over the weekend. The great thing about group projects is that when one person gets stuck, everyone else can…[Read more]

@hope-ann Karthmin said that to submit our guild war story at the end of the week, the link needs to be sent to Daeus via Facebook Messenger. He suggested I ask you, because he knows you are on Facebook. Could you send it Sunday night? You need to be friends with Daeus. If not, I can ask another guildmaster to.

It probably would. XD.
Well, here is the synopsis.
Aliyah Locke has never liked the stories where the main character is suddenly thrust into another universe. Seriously, those characters act like they’ve never read a book before. But when a gift a friend gave her leads her to a strange new world, Aliyah is the first to admit she is not equipped f…[Read more] -

@sarah-inkdragon Thank you! I listed my trouble spots on the first post, but as Daeus said, just let me know whatever feels off. Is there anyone you want me to help you with?
The manuscript is on Google Docs. Do you have a gmail account? If you pm me your email address, I can add you onto the doc.

Princess Foo replied to the topic Week 2: Writing Life; Being a Beta Reader (Daeus Lamb) in the forum Weekly Theme Discussion 7 years, 3 months ago
I have beta-read before. I really liked it, but I tend to overly blunt and assertive. Once I gave a suggestion, which writer passed by an editor she had hired, and the editor commented on the fact that I had been very blunt. Oops. Luckily it was for my cousin, who knows what I am like and knows that I had her best interests in heart.
I am…[Read more]

1. What’s your favorite genre ? If you have favorite genreS, list them and include a favorite work from each.
Fantasy. Specifically fairytale retellings. My favorite books include NARNIA (I’m reading it for bookclub and so I’m really excited about it right now), and most of Brandon Sanderson’s stuff.
2. How long have you been writing?
Since I l…[Read more]

It’s time to get started writing! For the sake of speed, I am going to suggest we go with @kelly-lundgren idea, as she is one of the writers, so she already has a strong mental idea of what to write. But if the writers (@seekjustice and kelly-lundgren) want to wait and hash out some more brainstorming before they get started, that is fine. The…[Read more]

*Bursts into room, banging on pots and pan* This is the LAST DAY for brainstorming! It isn’t horrible if we need to take more time, but I would like to give the writers and editors as much times as possible. We have almost nailed down the premise, but there needs to be a bit more discussion. What say ye?

Today is the last day for brainstorming! Do we have a premise? @seekjustice and @kelly-lundgren have volunteered to be the writers this month.

Lots of people have mentioned thick forests.
Do we want different kinds of mountains? Like the traditional, LOTR-y kind of mountains AND the kinds from Sedona, AZ? (I tried to get pictures, but I can’t figure out how to.)
Is there a central village? What kind of architecture does it have?
