Hm. What if it was his father? Instead of his brother? His father forced him to practice piano and become a concert pianist, because his father was crippled and could never accomplish his dream of becoming a concert pianist. Or perhaps his father has a crippling  disease that prevented him from learning piano, and he dies of said disease before the concert.

I don’t know, though. I feel like if I tried to do that it would probably end up feeling like a rip-off of I Can Only Imagine.

I really like the idea of it being his wife. I think the sweetness of their relationship could balance out the heaviness of the theme.

But I also really like the way everything is connected in your ideas. Maybe we can combine these ideas somehow? Or should I just forget the wife idea?
