@literatureforthelight That’s a GREAT idea! I’m not sure if that’s exactly what mine is, but it’s similar.

(I am so embarrassed about this 😆) I wrote it kind of as a…idk, stream-of-consciousness thingy? That’s not the right word. Anyway, it’s not a strict outline, but it’s not an actual rough draft.

    *********
The Healer follows behind the army.
As the battle sweeps over the ridge, he rushes to tend the dying.
His magic is his life source, coursing through his blood. Use too much and he must rest, sleep, eat, wait for the magic to build strength again.
It’s been a terrible battle. His magic is running low, he knows. He feels light-headed. Fingers tingling. Nauseous.
But there is one more. Bleeding, crying in pain, clutching one thing, the locket of her lover.
He has to leave, his magic is too low, he must let other healers do the work. But where are they? Gone. The battle is too large, they have spread out too thin. There is one, but he, too, is diminished.
    “I have to save her.”
The magic of his hands coursing through, healing her wound. Gasping for air, yet it is not air he lacks. Remembering the day he waited for a bride. The procession ambushed. Killed for gems. Her death a meaningless madness. He is suffocating as she breathes new life. Bleeding out as her wounds heal. Her dead body carried into town. Too late. Too late. Too late.
    Not this time!
