Of all time? Hmmm…
I do love Zuko’s arc, but I think my favorite character arc of all time has to be either Alan Grant’s arc in the Jurassic Park movie or Randy’s arc in Alas Babylon.
They both take charge during an emergency, get their people through it the best they can, and end up completely changed for the better at the end of it all.…[Read more]

I’m actually too good at sharing my writing with others. I want to share it before it’s even in a coherent, readable order and format. 😐
I like critiques, even the harsh ones. I like improving my craft and I like sharing my ideas with people.

I love late-night writing time. Something about staying up to write is really inspiring. Unfortunately, I now have a job that requires me to get up at 4am… I haven’t utilized that particular trick for a long while.
Writing sprints and parties are also very helpful and fun. I haven’t had one of those for a while either, but they always help me…[Read more]

Hmm… One advantage of having multiple writers is that if one of us runs out of time/inspiration/motivation/ect the rest pick up where we left off. While I do like the idea of being able to use the story exclusively, I also know that I’m generally a slow writer (which means I won’t be able to participate in what I consider the fun part of these…[Read more]

My goals this week are to write every day and to mail a letter before Thursday instead of waiting until it’s too late on Saturday…

My weekend has been absolutely amazing. I’ve had more fun and less stress this weekend than I’ve had in a really long time.
My goals for this week;
– Mail letters to my crush.
– Write every day
– Write anything that comes to mind (including the impossible things) about my novel and it’s characters at least once a day.
– Work on creating my…[Read more]

I’ve played with this a few different ways; both with genetic magic and more general selective magic.
What I usually do is treat it like any other talent or ability. So yeah, everyone could start fire with magic, but only a few can make fireballs of any size (because they’re stronger or more talented or more learned). Some can barely even…[Read more]

I had a dream just this week about a real-life voice actor being a jewelry salesman who saranaded me with piano music- his voice and appearance were spot-on, but I thought it was really weird that he was selling things in this new mall (that looked like my dentist’s fancy building in some places).

@the-inkspiller Ah that makes a lot of sense.
1. I’ve had to deal with that problem recently- I published a short story in a contest then decided to expand it to a novel. My novel’s canon is very different from the short story’s canon. It depends on whether you are comfortable having published versions of your own alternate canon floating around…[Read more]

A few notes, and then the answers to your questions.
I really like the way you describe everything in deep POV, every sentence is just jam-packed with the character’s feelings and inner chaos; especially at the beginning.
I also really like the distracted and almost off-handed, way you introduce the characters.
The grammar and some wording…[Read more]

I have an extremely vivid mind’s eye. Almost to the “things I imagine stay there even when my eyes are open” stage. My dreams are full-color, 3d, and highly realistic movies, and so are many of my stories.
My current protagonist popped (literally) out of a bush while I was doing a rambling brainstorm/freewrite, and he was a fully formed human…[Read more]
