Here’s a random idea: do you know the movie The Space Between Us? Ignoring that one scene in the movie that wrecked it, what if we kind of went with the character type of the main-character-whose-name-I-can’t-remember? He says what he thinks because he doesn’t know that most people don’t. It’s really funny to watch, actually. He’ll say the most…[Read more]

@consciousdreamer Those are AMAZING. I really want to read the first one. And I totally get being stuck on two different stories; I’m going through the same problem right now as well 😂

@evelyn Heh heh Miss Agnes is awesome. XD
And if you’re unsure about calling her a telephone pole, you can always try beanpole. Those are also really tall, and more commonly used for describing tall people. 🙂

@j-a-penrose I’ll try to do this 🙂
I went to 508 words, but here it is 🙂
She hid in her oversized sweater as all eyes fell on her. Sweat dripped down her neck below her ponytail, and her heart beat quickened to the speed of a train.
“Amanda?” the teacher repeated her name again. “Do you know the answer?”
Don’t look at her, Amanda be…[Read more]

@j-a-penrose Okay! I’ll try condensing my plot into what you just told us about. Do not be confused when I repeat some of the points. I have a 3-part book, where part 1 and part 2 are from two different character’s points of view, and jump back in time to show the story from two different sides. 🙂
My WIP is (currently) called Poison Dragon.

@writercatherine I love her climaxes, actually. I read the prologue, and then at the end, I watch all the pieces fall into place and it’s always so EPIC. 😃 😂

@writercatherine Wikia sounds pretty cool 🙂 Haha, Silveny is awesome! YES COUNCILLOR ALINA. *glares at her* And Lord Cassius. How dare he be such an awful father to Keefe. I just so happened to have book 4 as the book where I began having to wait for new books to come out… what an awful book cliffhanger! I just personally lean toward Keefe I…[Read more]

@writercatherine YAY!!! Someone else who reads it!
I’ve read all of them and caught up to the timing of the releases shortly before book 4 came out. I’m so excited for Flashback! My sister and I have it preordered from Barnes and Noble (even though we live in Canada, where there is no Barnes and Noble) because there’s the special edition with…[Read more]

@evelyn Sure 🙂
“The Healer stepped casually from the doorway. His finger tracing the newly painted frame off the window beside him. He looked up.” You could cut out the ‘he looked up’ part. Like, Simon isn’t even good enough for him to look up at while he’s talking to him because he’s so imperfect.
““Perfect?” Simon spat. “Killing – murderi…[Read more]

@evelyn WOW.
*tries to put thoughts in words*
This was a really well-written story. There were parts where I felt slightly confused as to what was happening (mostly during the first half of the story when I was getting used to how you write) but I think you really did well with upping the tension. You can tell how much the father loves his…[Read more]

@j-a-penrose I totally see where you’re getting with this, and I agree! I know that I haven’t been very active recently, and I apologize for that; I really love Parimi Alca and all the people in it, so I’ll try to post more. 🙂

I would love to know how to write a story that’s paced well and is suspenseful but in a way that isn’t really pushy or forced; one that appears to be the story, and before the reader knows it, they’ve been sitting reading for 5 hours straight and are screaming whenever they accidentily drop the book and lose their spot/what I did a couple days…[Read more]

@j-a-penrose @cassie-hartfinh What if we take the idea of a little girl jumping off a train and being lost, and showing things she sees through her eyes? (I’m kind of thinking like Heidi, from the book Heidi, being distressed that Grandmother cannot see the light ever again) Maybe it’s winter, and she finds a cold beggar. They get in a…[Read more]

@j-a-penrose Thanks for the tips! I totally can understand having some of the arms bare, because even as I was writing, I felt a bit like it was advancing with too many too quickly. 😂 More stress and worry for the MC! *cackles*

@j-a-penrose Well, I’ve decided to just continue this same idea I began with for all of these lessons. Maybe way later on I can organize it into an actual story. 😂 But for now, here’s my own (attempted) take on our lesson. I made up the name for the new person, and Microsoft Word says it’s not a real word. Oh well.
I scurry along the dirty street,…
