True. Some of the women at my youth group were talking about how they made lists and stuff of what they’d like their future husbands to be like when they were my age, and how the men they eventually married matched their lists almost perfectly – down to appearance.

My prayer was simply this:
“Lord, I only want the one You choose for me. I know every good and perfect gift comes from You. I know You give better than any I could choose for myself, so I yield all of the details into Your Hands. You know my wants and preferences, but most importantly, You know what I need to find completion, and the one who will join me in the journey to finding out what it is You have planned for our lives together. So I lay even my choices down, Lord. I lay the timing down. I, instead, only ask You for the wisdom to recognize her when you bring her into my life. I now need You more than ever to make me into the man she will need me to be. I trust You. I trust in Your being the Father Who Knows how to give the best gifts to His Children. (Matthew 7:11) You make the list for me, Father, and I will endeavor to love her as You do, and be patient in this preparing time between. Amen.”
God answered my prayer in such an amazing way. You can trust Him to do the same for you.
