Aha… um… *guilty laugh* Well… when I created Lytt I had no idea what type of bird she was. At first she was going to be part falcon, but falcons’ wings don’t really look like hers. 🙂 So she’s like half-golden eagle. Or something. Some kind of predatory bird with some other bird genes mixed into to give her her speckles and black feathers. 🙂
Ooh, I didn’t even think about name sounds and all that! Glad you caught it! Ok, then, I’d say Dharin could be any kind of bird you want. Lytt’s from a large desert tribe, for instance, and I’ve thought about having Feathered Aves in cold places (half-snowy owl) and rainforest places (half-parrot or lovebird or something brightly colored) too. 🙂
As a general rule, here are five things that apply to most Feathered Aves:
1. They are the size of humans. Female FA (Feathered Aves) have wings about 6′ long each, while males have about 6.5-7′ long wings.
2. FAs tend to be a “Fight first, fly last” type people.
3. They get claustrophobic easily if they can’t fly or they can’t stretch their wings for whatever reason. This phobia is worse in some cases than others.
4. FAs live in the Outer Realms, away from all humans. They tend to be more comfortable around humans than others, because one: they can fly to get away; and two: their wings are easier to hide than eight legs (like Asor). As the humans consider half-man creatures to be monsters, the half-man creatures consider humans to be monsters.
5. FAs live in tribes for the most part (kind of depending on what kind of bird you are). They are taught as kids the basics of flying, hunting both in the air and on the ground, fighting both in the air and on the ground, and how to fly in formation along with the actual schooling topics of wind patterns, storm patterns, math, reading, and writing.
Anything else you need to know? 🙂
