Thanks! I am 14, and yes, I think Handel’s Messiah may be difficult. However, I am up for the challenge!
My WIP is kind of interesting that way. No, it isn’t. All of their adventures happen on Earth, and in a way all is revealed at the end.
What kind of songs do you like to sing? What kind of interests do you have?

I enjoy pretty well any poetry that rhymes. I also like poetry that doesn’t rhyme, though. My inspirations are pretty simple. Whenever I see something cool or want to remember something, but yet can’t exactly write a story on it, I turn to poetry. It makes things sound so pretty. I mostly write poetry that rhymes.
I am 14…[Read more]

My birthday is in November too, on the 12th!
Good luck on your concert! I always get so nervous, but once I start singing everything is fine.

Hi! I’m Victoria, and I recently turned 14. I live in southwestern Ontario on a nice sized country property with my 5 siblings. I mostly write in adventure or real-life genres, although I can’t say much for fantasy. I’ve only been seriously writing for about 1.5 years, so I don’t have much to speak for and need some good advice. Besides writing, I…[Read more]

My current WIP is a short story about a brother who goes looking for his sister and meets some friends and foes along the way.
I’m also currently trying my hand in poetry! It is turning out not too bad, so I am pleased with that.

Glad to meet you, Evelyn!
I like to listen to Keith and Kristyn Getty, Chris Tomlin, some of Mandisa, and a lot of Jamie Soles.
I like to sing pretty well anything, but especially hymns and complicated songs! 😉 The choir which I am hoping to sing in is doing parts of Handel’s Messiah, so that should be a ton of fun.

Oh, I suppose I should say something else. Not much good at introducing myself… 🙂
I like fantasy, allegorical, and adventure genres, I enjoy Christian music, and my top four interests/hobbies are reading, writing, singing,…[Read more]

I often find it difficult to display cliches well and comfortably in my stories even though I like the idea of them, though not overused.
Any good suggestions?

I’ve heard of him but haven’t had the time to actually sit down and read. They sound really good though, and will be at the top of my read-next list!

This has given me so much to think about in regards to my writing. As a new and slightly inexperienced writer, this whole series has been thought-provoking. I am so glad that you guys can do this for us and I have really enjoyed all these posts. The next time I write I will know so much more.

Thank you so much for this post!
I had always wondered how to include swearing or even if to include it, and this definitely provided me with new insight.
I’m looking forward to the next one. -

Victoria Marentette commented on the post, How Should Christian Authors Depict Darkness? 7 years, 10 months ago
This was an amazing post! As a writer I always try to portray darkness balancedly (if that’s a word). And most of the time I struggle to make it real enough. A good story is one that will turn darkness into light, but yet have enough darkness to make it real.

It is difficult to write darkness. I am thinking about Charles Dickens as I read all this. His books are really good, and I find that they capture a lot . As a writer though, it is sometimes difficult to make it real, even though it may be fiction. I know when I see movies sometimes I say to my parents or siblings, “It’s a movie.” It’s not real.…[Read more]
