For Sale: Baby Shoes. Never Worn.
Lately, I’ve become obsessed with six word stories (and no, in case you were wondering, I didn’t come up with the above story; wished I did, though 😊. According to rumors, it’s a famous short story written by Hemingway, though, not proven).
I really like the idea of compacting a whole story just to a handful of carefully chosen words and leaving what’s unsaid to the reader’s imagination.
So for fun, I’d thought it’d be cool to start a six word story challenge. Feel free to join in. Just please keep it clean. (You know the drill.) I’ll start and then tag some people. Post as many as you like (and please tag friends too, so they can join!) Also, a writer friend of mine is doing a caption challenge on her blog (six to fifty word story). If anyone is interested, I’ll post the link below.
Here’s mine:
#1. <span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Too late. Should’ve listened to him.</span>
#2. <span style=”font-weight: 400;”>I said, “Don’t light the match.”</span>
#3. <span style=”font-weight: 400;”>What Chicken Little said was true.</span>
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>#4. Ship crashed. Now alone on Mars.</span>
Here’s the tags:
@devastate-lasting @obrian-of-the-surface-world @joy-caroline @michelle @nataliecone
@anyone else who loves flash fiction!
(and the caption challenge, for anyone interested):
Can’t wait to see what you guys come up with! 🙂
