What are your thoughts on the use of flashbacks to provide important information? Should they be avoided at all costs? Or can they be applied practically?

I used them heavily in my story, but I structured the story so it was expected. Each chapter began with a flashback of some sort that related in some way to what would happen in the upcoming chapter. I guess I’ll go! I would say mine is a combination of Dead Poet’s Society and End of the ******* World. Though it’s completely clean, it’s a story about two kids running away from a very facade-esque town to grow and experience the real world, but as the story goes on we find about a deep root of abuse and hurt in one of the character’s lives.
