I’ll be doing some editing. I’ve already cut 18K words and I’m over halfway through the book. O.o

@elisha-starquill It is in my own fantasy world, Kera. I’m currently editing the first book for beta-readers. (My goal is to have it finished before summer starts…so I’d better hurry up with that. π )

@fallen-prince Ooh, halflings are cool. I may have one or two of those in my book. π I definitely agree with @elisha-starquill about the names you chose; they’re fantastic.
@elisha-starquill I’ve only ever tried playing two instruments, flute and piano, but I sadly don’t have the aptitude for either. π My WIP is about a girl named Ariella (I…[Read more]

@fallen-prince Yours sounds really cool! The cultures of the Celts and Vikings are interesting to read about. Can you tell me more about the story and characters?
What is your fantasy world like?
My fantasy world takes some of the culture and biomes from medieval Europe, but there are various different peoples, creatures, and flora. I’m not good…[Read more]

@fallen-prince Ooh, I haven’t read the ones you mentioned but I want to. I really like The Silmarillion, though. It inspired me to create an origin story for one of my fantasy worlds.
@elisha-starquill *high-fives back* Iced tea is really good, but I think I prefer hot tea. Peppermint, jasmine, green, and vanilla almond rooibos are my favorite…[Read more]

Welcome to the wonderful world of Parimi Alca! My name’s Ariella, but you can call me Ari. *hands out freshly-baked peppermint snickerdoodle cookies*
@fallen-prince – It seems we have some things in common. I also write fantasy and description is one of my favorite aspects of storytelling. π Have you read The Silmarillion?

Happy Birthday, Parmi Alca! And thanks for being such a great guildmaster, @j-a-penrose. π
@steward-of-the-pen Don’t mind if I do. *noms cake and ice cream* I also brought cookies!

@j-a-penrose I wasn’t able to get much writing done this week because of school. π I’ll still submit what I’ve got, but it isn’t near the amount I’ve been able to write before.

@silverclaw-bonnetfolly Here’s the link to my book. I should warn you that I also have a bad habit of accidentally leaving words out of sentences, so if you notice anything like that, by all means let me know. Thank you so much!

@trallion I read The Hero and the Crown a long time ago. I should probably read it again since I’ve forgotten most of the story. π
I guess tea is a writer thing. Either that or coffee, but I don’t really like coffee.

Hey, @trallion. Welcome to Story Embers! I’m Ariella Newheart, as you can probably see. *squints at tag* I also like books by Christopher Paolini and Andrew Peterson. (Mr. Peterson’s music is really good, too.) Andβhold on just a minute, did you say Robin McKinley?! The Blue Sword is one of my favorite books! I finally got around to reading it a…[Read more]

Hey, guys! I found a lovely poem/hymn that I would like to share with you. This is the part that stood out to me the most:
Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made;
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above,
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll…[Read more] -

Great job, Parimis! I think we have a good chance of winning this!

Update:
Another week has gone by and I did quite a bit of editing. I’m getting reacquainted with characters and fixing their arcs and the theme of the story. It’s so much fun to explore character motivations. My friend and I also worked out whether two characters are distantly related. Turns out they’re cousins of a step-cousin. (The family tree…[Read more]
