@ericawordsmith @wordsmith @noahlitle –
Wow, I’ve missed a lot! Just to say this, please remember I only have internet once or twice a week, so if I’ve not popped back in here and responded in days, it’s because it’s literally impossible, not that I’ve forgotten or am ignoring you guys. I’d love to be able to be more on here, but I can’t at the moment, so I have to dump all my responses at once and you guys have to pray for the brainpower to register it all. 😊
@wordsmith – What? How did you know I was good at foosball? I always forget things I’ve said on here… XD XD Like I had no remembrance of telling people here my first name. I know I did on Kingdom Pen. Or maybe I did here and I think it was KP. *shakes head* I get confused easily. Anyways, yeah, Morgan. For a while I was bugged that my name was also a guy’s name, but besides Morgan Freeman, I’ve never heard of another guy named Morgan, and I’m over it) 😊
I have noticed, especially in our family, that guys cannot seem to multitask as well as the girls can. Apparently, this is a common thing. I think that it’s better that girls can multi-task because as keepers of the home I think we usually have to deal with more separate things than men who go out for a job. Not anything to insult you guys, or to imply that some of your jobs aren’t difficult or can’t be complex, but as the home-keeper, a woman has to be the nanny, cook, scullery maid, washer-woman, teacher, organizer, gardener, etc. and there’s a lot of more separate little jobs that all combine together which a girl’s multitasking mind is good for.
Me personally, I don’t know if my mind is extraordinary, but I can multi-task and divide my mind better than anyone I’ve talked to about it. I can register two different conversations at once, and while obviously I can’t speak to both persons at once, I can formulate responses in my head for both of them at the same time. While I’m talking my mind usually has three different tracks – The conversation, the conversation sped up and imagined out in my mind, and a totally different train of thought that has nothing to do with it. Literally while I was writing this my mind was imagining your possible responses and also went from The Little House on the Prairie TV show to my shoes with many stops in between.
There are also times when I let my mind sort of ‘wander out’ and I just allow images and imaginings and thoughts to fly through it faster than I can register. Things morph and warp and twist and turn to something else even before I can sense what they are, and it’s actually very interesting thing to do and see if I can snatch some thought or picture out that’s actually interesting or important. (I don’t do it often though, because there’s so much else to be done!)
If a guy’s mind is like a camera, then girl’s minds are like those speed burst ones where you take like twenty pictures in one second. 😀
Back to the crying/emotions thing – I have a question for you guys @wordsmith @noahlitle – Do you or other guys you have known/know become emotional/cry about things that could happen? Possible situations? I mean, do you ever imagine situations that are bad and then end up reacting like they have happened? This is something I do, which is in all honesty not good at all and I need God’s help (and your prayers would be lovely) to stop this. To explain it a bit better with an example; I have a couple friends who have gone off to the Marines. It’s scary, at least for me, to think about, and I just sit there and imagine what could happen, what might happen that’s happened to other people and before I know it, I’ve been crying for fifteen minutes acting like something has actually happened! It’s just fear, at the root of it all, fear at unknowns that could be bad, but it’s also actually thinking out situations or sequences instead of just general fear.
@wordsmith – About the unwanted guys encounters. This happens in your most normal every-day places. I don’t know why I get this more than the other girls in my acquaintance, especially since I would not consider myself beautiful, or pretty enough to ‘attract’ people by my looks. And it’s not like I go places where something like this would be more expected; bars, bad neighborhoods, etc. It’s happened in the grocery store, on the sidewalk at a 4th of July parade, walking to get my grandparent’s mail, outside the movie theatre, even at the end of my own driveway! But this always happens when I am alone or my family is technically there but not within range, so I’m assuming that guys are smart enough to not hit on girls who obviously have other people with her.
I’m five foot two, small, and not known for my physical strength, so it’s even more threatening to me personally because of my size. Not that I wouldn’t be able to put up a decent fight though. But it’s just scary when it happens because I know if it came to that, most guys wouldn’t have trouble beating me if they had bad intentions. One of my friends is five foot nine and way stronger than me and she would definitely be able to protect herself better.
Now, I’ve never had a situation yet where any guy has actually done anything physically, grabbed my arm, etc. It’s just been verbal – offers of rides home, invitations to ‘come over’, names like Babe or Baby Girl and more cringy names and then some things I don’t want to write. I don’t usually respond at all and I just walk away. Although once a guy made me so mad, I yelled at him, and that was stupid, I know, but I just wish I could haul off at all these guys. Or have a bodyguard that’s like six foot five and ripped that would do it for me. That’d be nice. 😊 Come to think of it though, if I had a bodyguard, I probably wouldn’t get these comments, so he wouldn’t need to. XD
But it’s also discouraging, because I can’t think of anything I can do to stop it, (while I’m sans bodyguard) cause if a guy’s going to hit on me, he probably will without anything being done on my part. I do struggle with this, and it being discouraging, but I decided months ago that I wasn’t going to let these things and the fear of them control my life. I’m not afraid to go places by myself or be alone in a store. It’s not like I’m stupid and put myself in compromising situations, but I’m not letting this fear of these things dictate my life.
I pray for the guys that are doing this, that they’ll see what they’re doing and how it is wrong and makes girls feel threatened or worthless. It’s just sad that anyone can think doing these things is okay. I wish they knew that when they do these things to me, it does not make me happy that I ‘attracted’ these guys, or that I’m something they’d like to look at. It makes me feel like I’m not the woman God made me to be, and I’d like to think that if they knew that, they’d stop. Hitting on girls does not make them feel special or beautiful. At all.
@ericawordsmith – Well, your name in my head was Erica, because usually when people have a real name as part of their pen name, that’s what they are in my head. 😊 Wordsmith had nothing, so I had to make something. If I was guessing your real name, I would probably guess Elissa, Ashley, or Sara. (Also, I relate letters to people. Those are your letters, E,A,S, and also V. Wordsmith’s are W (wonder why? 😊), T, and K. It’s odd, but it’s something I would do with writing to help give characters personality. Also colors. Yours are blue and yellow, Wordsmiths are navy blue and red. *shrugs* It’s just a thing of mine. Another weird mental quirk.
I know what you mean about songs and breakup songs. There’s a country station on the radio that a lot of businesses pick for their music that you hear when shopping, and half the songs are about breakups! ☹ It’s so sad; there was just a song I heard the other day (I also have the gift/blessing that I can memorize a song after hearing it only two or three times, which is useful for choir and good music, but it also means that I have all these gaggy, horrible songs that supermarkets and malls play stuck in my memory.)
A guy was singing that ‘I’d still go back and do it again, even though we break up in the end’. Like, even though their relationship ended badly, he’d do it over again knowing they’d break up just to have the ‘happy’ feelings in between. That is soooo horrible. It makes me really sad that the second most beautiful and sacred relationship in the world, love between and a man and a woman, is being warped and perverted like this by our society.
@ericawordsmith @wordsmith – Erica, you’re not alone in the tall girls. If you came to our church you’d find companionship. I have a friend who’s around five ten or five eleven, and her sisters are all close to that. It’s so weird, cause we’re exactly the same age, but about eight inches different. XD I used to mind being short, but now I don’t anymore. Plus, God made me the height I am for a reason, so I’m going to respect that and not complain. Knowing my luck though, I probably will end up with someone like your friend, a six foot six or whatever dude who I’d have to stand on tiptoe just to tap his shoulder. XD
