@Dakota, well, here’s another poem. Its name is Sunflower of Valor. Feel free to critique!

Sprouting amongst the garden is a Sunflower.

Legends claim that he is taller than a tower.

His petals are bright, happy, and yellow.

He bellows in a friendly voice “Hello!”

    To each little and tender flower;

    Never doeth he grow sour.

    The Sunflower is strong as the sun;

And in fear never doeth he run.

He wishes in the garden peace,

    That violence forever cease.

The Sunflower possesses the aura of a king,

Yet the playfulness of a youngling.

    But, suddenly, a twig snaps.

    Several delicate flowers collapse.

Wild beasts, critters of a hunter’s broken cage,

Charge amidst the garden in a horrid rage.

    The Sunflower claps a leaf

Over his mouth in devastated disbelief.

The foul monsters vanish into the forest,

    Abandoning torn flowers to rest

    Upon the downtrodden ground.

    Heart chained and bound,

    The Sunflower quite selfless,

    Tends to the unfortunate helpless.

    Several flowers survived,

But the unlucky ones, sadly, never revived.

    In sorrow deep,

    The Sunflower doeth weep.

    The sky mournful and gray,

In tragic sadness the flowers lay.

    The clouds vanish and clear.

The bright sun doeth draw near.

The wind brushes his petals yellow,

    Soft and mellow.

Nonetheless, in the end all move on.

The horizon fades into night; but at dawn

    Light pierces the darkness,

    Erasing the bitter, cruel sharpness.

    With a long, deep sigh,

The Sunflower gazes up high in the sky.

As a protector of the garden,

    His flowery heart mustn’t harden…

He is strong as the sun.

    Hence his name:

    The Sunflower of Valor!
