@MelancholicWriter @Zee @Erynne @Arindown
I’m sorry this is so late, but thank you so much for all of your recommendations and non-recommendations! XD Erynne, I have The Witch of Blackbird Pond on my reading list. It’s wonderful to know it contains no witchcraft. XD Some of my other friends like it as well! MelancholicWriter, I’ve just finished…[Read more]

ya I think I didn’t explain it well…and I might change it. but the driving force is their relationship and they are dating for most of the book (in my mind right now). but at least right now it is romance them growing close…idk this is my first book that i’m going to complete…

@melancholicwriter, to boil it down to the bones, a romance story is about two people either drawing closer together, or falling apart. In other words, the love relationship is the driving force of the story.
I may be wrong, but it sounds like the driving force of your story is not so much the relationship between the girl and the boyfriend who…[Read more]

Kissing, dating, boyfriends and girlfriends? sounds like a romance to me…

@melancholicwriter, it sounds like you have a strong plot/story idea here, though I agree that the dark themes would be difficult to address well, even if–or perhaps particularly if–you have personal experience with this kind of situation. However, I’m not sure that the story, as you described it, would technically qualify as a romance.

Haha, it might be a bit hard to explain, but I’ll try.😄
Go to EDIT PROFILE (it’s up in the right corner for me). When you get to your profile, you’ll probably have to click another button that says PROFILE. It will bring you to a place where you can change your name, say where you’re from, etc. One of the options is FORUM…[Read more]

I know you didn’t ask this, but a series I would warn you to stay away from is the selection series by Kiera Cass. When I read the Heir after a friend recommended it, they seemed fine, but that is the cleanest one and a couple of them have some not-so-good parts.

Good to meet you. I’m Tudor, 19 years old, finishing high school this year. I live in Germany, and for all my teenage life I’ve had a passion for writing. So far I have only written a handful of short stories, though, and my preferred genres are historical/political/war drama, but I’ve become interested in romance lately. I’ve developed some…[Read more]

*facepalm* No, sorry, that was my fault! For some reason my crazy brain thought that it was @jsclingman asking the question. I thought it didn’t make any sense! Now I understand why! 😂
There’s romance in the last book!? Now I definitely have to read it…

I’m reading Starsight and LOVE it! and @jsclingman a book with some younger person romance (still cute) is the last book in the Wingfeather saga.

Sorry my question about the kissing was for @jsclingman. I’ve read the Witch of Blackbird Pond and love it

@jsclingman, if you’re looking for something in the comedy vein, Georgette Heyer’s Regency romances are super-fun. While they are not free of language, kissing, etc. it is definitely kept to a minimum. There are not inappropriate sexual scenes in any of the ones I’ve read.
While I have no claim to being an expert, I’ve done a lot of reading and…[Read more]

There’s no kissing in The Witch of Blackbird Pond. At least I’m pretty sure there isn’t… It’s been a while since I’ve read it. (Fyi there’s no witchcraft in it, don’t let the title scare you 😉 )

I can’t say that I can recommend stories that would fall under the “Romance” category (I don’t read a lot of that), but I have read some stories with really amazing romance.
Well-known ones that I use for my own reference are Anne of Green Gables (Book 3: Anne of the Island), Little Women, and Rifles for Watie by Harold Keith. I’ve…[Read more]
