Natalie Cone started the topic Lost Short Story Writer in the forum Introduce Yourself 5 years, 1 month ago
I spent an hour pouring my heart out. It was a beautiful and heartfelt post. Then I tapped “submit”, received an error, and the entire post was lost.
The irony is amusing, in a bitter way, considering the title of this post.
I don’t have any more time to introduce myself, so I’ll just say Hi. I like writing short stories. Novels seem impossible for me. God is super-silent when I ask for help. My husband admitted he never wants to hear me talk about it again because he is confused about the subject starting with my opening sentence of our conversation. He’s a business man. He only knows how to talk about construction.
So. Nice to meet you. What’s up with you?

My wife is a corporate attorney with sharp financial sense, bullish pragmatism, and interests in real estate and investments. She has her gifts and I was the American & English Lit major and country boy, preacher’s kid, and southerner who likes pickup trucks and Shakespeare. We are odd ducks, but hey, God does the blending and it works in a complementary fashion. I like science fiction and fantasy, she likes legal procedures and investment journals. But my strengths are her gaps, and hers are mine, so together, when we pursue God in unison, He brings our harmony and melody together.
[the other thing is when the post you submit or find in the personal Activity section has a comment portion, it is not a full Form Topic post, and does not appear in the Forum thread. Many of these things I had to find out on my own experimentation. You’ll catch on to how it all works soon enough.]
If you want to post a link to a document or picture, many of us use Google Docs or One Drive and then make the link shareable [to anyone with the link], before posting it in the forums. There is a Picture game in one of the Topics where writers find a picture of someone that represents one of their characters and allow others to guess some of the details from the character picture alone. That topic is in the Fantasy Writer’s Group under “Completely Useless Character Game”.
If your tastes run to drama, check out the Audio Cinema Topic to find a link to a single scene read aloud (MP3 Audio file) by one of the authors there. Then answer a series of critique questions. The Challenge Rules and Questions are usually in the first couple of posts under a Topic in the Forums, and the latest/newest posts are in the back pages of the Topic. Just click on the last page link that should be in the top left corner of the postings pages. And that is pretty much enough to get you started. Have fun exploring! Ask questions, answer questions, read the Story Embers articles, Listen to the Topical Podcasts, and make friends, or take or start a Challenge of your own creative design.
