*cracks knuckles* SO. In case you haven’t heard, I’m publishing my first book this year. I put off writing the blurb because I loathe them but I can put it off no longer. *dons woebegone martyrial aspect* The world is cruel.

Here’s what I’ve come up with so far. Any thoughts?

Keary Candela has too many questions. As pageboy and messenger of the Queen he has the run of the sprawling underground kingdom, but the more he sees of it the more questions he has. Forbidden books, smuggled into his hands by his mischievous playmate Princess Eira, are no longer enough.
Why build a kingdom underground? What’s so terrible about the Topland, and what happens to the people who whisper about it and are never seen again?
The questions are dangerous— but the answers urgent. Some hidden danger threatens the princess, and the Queen is keeping secrets.
Handed a mysterious message and a quest on the night of the princess’s sixteenth birthday, the desperate pageboy has four hours to discover the truth and rescue the princess.
If he doesn’t, no one will be there to rescue him.

Yep, it’s a fairytale retelling. Snow White, to be precise. (For the curious, the role Keary would fill in relation to the original fairytale is that of the Huntsman.) The genre is steampunk and the suggested reading/age-level would be twelve, and it’s kind of an allegory in some ways… because I seem incapable of writing anything else. XD But seriously, poisoned apples? Who sees that and doesn’t think forbidden fruit?
