@kate  Agreed. What if we did just a random dream? Where the dream is the story? Kind of like Alice In Wonderland. It’s not a very good idea, I just thought I’d throw it out there.

What if we did a dream about the future, write it in past tense and use some of your ideas for a dream about the past, then when the character wakes up, we write in present tense and he’s disturbed because the event has never happened to him.

Almost like he’s reliving an event from his future. So, kind of using your Dichotomy Rule for the whole (short) story. A major drawback is that it would be hard to do it effectively.

@literatureforthelight Or maybe we could do the opposite, to where he’s thinking about some problem he has that will effect his future, then from that we morph into the dream where his subconscious tries to work it out.

@bama-rose That’s a good idea. *throws it in the pot with all the other ideas floating around here*

What if we did something completely different? We could do a sweet kind of nostalgia… for example, a man dreams about his wife, but when he wakes up he remembers she’s been dead for years. We could have his dream depict the last thread of his holding on finally breaking, if that makes any sense. Like he’s finally letting go.

I really like that idea. But is it the best idea?
