@noahlitle: “I hope I’m not destroying your faith in asking these questions. I’m just curious what you have to say. I’ll give you my opinion on this if you want.” XD dont worry, I’m good! I actually enjoy debates (most to the time) and think it strengthens my faith rather then weakening it! but ya, I would love to hear your opinion!

to be honest I haven’t encountered said ‘permanentent’ laws before but I will use the magical power of the internet to aid me! *disappears in a cloud of blue smoke*

*another blue cloud of smoke appears. As it clears I’m standing their fanning away the smoke and coughing*  (not the most pleasent way of travel!) alright well, heres what I got for you:

    https://www.gotquestions.org/lasting-ordinance.html

obviously people on the internet are smarter then me so read what they have to say first. Once you’ve done that then consiter this:

    1. its not a very good idea to get hung up on one phrase or word in the bible (and I’ve learned this from experience) so like when Exodus 32:14 says “So the Lord changed His mind about the harm which He said He would do to His people.” (NASB) we know from other verses that God does not change his mind right? so sometimes we cant hinge stuff on the particular word or words used especially if other verses clearly state otherwise. which brings me to my seccond point.

    2. other verses clearly state the mosaic law hasnt lasted forever! verses like the one I gave you (Colossians 2:17) 2 Corinthians 3: 9-11 “If the ministry that brought condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness! 10 For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. 11 And if what was transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!” (this is in NIV, other versions word it differently) annoyingly that’s all I could find… theirs probably more!

as for your seccond question, I have no clue XD. @wordsmith you want to jump in and help me out here?

@the-fledgling-artist: Ok, so let me get this straight, your claim that the act of killing isn’t wrong if your enacting God justice?  *strokes his chin* that means you dont believe the act itself is wrong but the act with the wrong reasons is wrong. huh, so why dont you agree with my “sin is the attitude not the act theory?” cuz you agree with me that the act of killing isnt the thing thats wrong here but its the act with the wrong modivations. which, as you see it, would be anything except for an attitude of obedience. however, we can work with that. The point is, you dont think killing the act itself is wrong. Which is good to have clarified : D, (tell me if I’m missing something!)

now as for your different context argument, I think thats pretty valid. Would you venture to say that the correct attitude, and moral absolute, is obedience and, because we have not been commanded to kill in the NT to do so would be acting in disobeiance and thus be a sin. While, in the old testament, they were commanded to kill and thus acted out of obediance and as a result didnt sin. yes, no, maybe so?

“What do you think? Is there ever a reason that killing is necessary to living like Jesus?” as for this question, IDK I’m on the fence.

@rochellaine: “I’ve been following this conversation for a while… ” (0_0) how long is a while? (-_-) have you been stalking us?

“A clarification I’d like to make is that God does not change, (He is the same yesterday, today, and forever)” yep!

“, so it’s important to remember that the laws would have been fulfilled or clarified, not discarded altogether. ” yessssssss, *tilts his head* I think… uh, maybe, IDK I’ll have to think about it.

“We no longer rely on works to get us to heaven, thanks to Jesus.  However, the Bible clearly states that faith, without works, is dead. (James 2:14-26) And that if we love God, we will keep His commandments.” *checks the box*

“In my opinion, the question is not which of the commandments have been discarded, but how the commandments should be obeyed differently.  For example, with regards to the sacrifice laws: Jesus did not “get rid of” the sacrifice laws.  A sacrifice is still required before we can get into heaven.  But He fulfilled the laws so that it is His sacrifice we need, and not our own.  (Of course, in order to accept His sacrifice we need to be willing to sacrifice ourselves to serving Him…   )” ok granted thats fairly biblical but what about tassles on robes? would you please enlighten me as to how that was fulfilled and not discarded

“Finally, when Jesus said the two greatest commandments are “Love the Lord your God” and “Love your neighbor as yourself,” He added the clause: “On these hang all the law and the prophets”.  I would argue that He didn’t mean those were the only two commandments, but that He meant all the laws come down to those two things.  If you go through all the OT laws, what can you find that does not either fulfill one or the other of those two “greatest commandments”?  As a couple of examples, the laws against stealing and coveting are obviously about loving your neighbor, the laws about how to worship and how to live cleanly and healthy lives are based on loving God, as we are temples for Him and made in His image.” sure!

“Anyway…sorry for jumping in here.  Hope everyone’s okay with that.  If you’re not, just say so and I’ll jump right back out.” nope your totally cool! I like hearing new opinions : D

“Anyway, I think I’ll not post in this topic anymore (unless someone directly tags me) since it seems to be going back to its original intent, for guys only.    So farewell, and talk to you elsewhere!” *falls to his knees * NOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooo…

@nuetrobolt: well homeschooled is practiacaly a given from what I know of these guys XD maybe we just talk to diffrent people! oh, a grade ahead is cool! what grade are you in? well I’m not much of a fan of marine biology (or biology in general XD) so I cant sypathise with you there.

as for me: 1. I’m pretty darn good at chess. 2. I play soccer (and have played for quite a while) 3. I love lego! (I don cair that I’m 17 lego is still then best XD!)
