Ohh, that was cold, @daeus-lamb.

So I get to pick five questions and answer those to unveil my soul, and leave the other three, right? (Explain how the flamingo question has anything to do with my soul. . .?)
In all seriousness, those were good questions! Here be answers:
1. Tea or coffee? (The world breathlessly awaits your answer.)
Don’t squirm, but: herbal tea. Ya know, pu-erh, loose-leaf green tea steeped in a small one-cup-sized clay pot. All things healthful and herbal. And I prefer it iced.
I’ve never tried coffee. Can’t get it past my nose.
No. I’m not weird. *Scoffs*
2. How did you become a writer?
Wait, this guild is for writers??
Like many others, I dabbled in writing as a kid, won a 2nd prize in 2nd grade, etc. But how? Goodness, I honestly have to say God made me one. Seriously, though. I loved writing, but figured my life had to be about what God wanted me to do, not what I enjoyed (as if those things had to be mutually exclusive). So I was dead-set on becoming a missionary nurse in Africa. When this became impossible (enter: poor health), I began doing the only thing I could do without any energy–writing. When I finally embraced it, I realized: “This is what I was born to do.”
3. What has the theme of your life been this year? What has God been teaching you?
Oh, now ya done it. You sure you want to know? 😉
I suppose “Survival” might be a little dramatic, though it feels accurate for a theme. I guess the best way to go is to say it is very similar to the 18th book of the Bible.
God has been teaching me more than I’ll ever be able to summarize, but Him working my life this past year is something akin to a farmer painfully uprooting the remains of an old, dead crop until there’s nothing left. Then he digs into the soil, breaking up clods and pulling out stones. What’s left is raw, exposed and tender ground.
I guess that means I’ll be planted sometime soon. Here’s hoping!
I also resonated with @kate theme of finding joy in the midst of trials. It’s so good, and has been a prayer of mine that God’s been answering.
4. What’s your MBTI type?
(Another) INFP. Also Enneagram type 4.
5. What would be your preferred way of taking over the world?
*sigh* Must I? I’d much rather change it to the point that no one wants to take over the world anymore. Which is, in itself, taking over the world, in a sense.
How? By writing life-changing books, of course.
6. What are your hobbies?
After reading all the interesting answers, they triggered lots of, “Oh yeah, me too!” Thus I shall list past and present hobbies, if they are things I’d still do if I could.
Writing, reading, dancing, fencing (not as rare as I once thought, apparently), hiking, costume-making (via sewing), rock-climbing (gym, but would love to do the real thing), tree-climbing, photography, photo editing (see my website), Ultimate Frisbee playing, mountain climbing (my definition of hiking, but not others’), traveling (preferably to places with castles) and herbal medicine. This last one may or may not include eating random edible weeds when seen in someone’s landscaping . . ..Someday I’d love to do archery and broadsword fighting. #writingresearch #whowouldnt?
7. What are your writing goals for this year?
Start writing again, as I desire to am able to. After total burnout (spiritually, emotionally and physically) and a big creative dry spell, I’m trying to get “back on the horse” if you will. Preparing for and doing NaNoWriMo would be huge progress for me, and I shall if I can.
8. If you got to be a flamingo for one day, what would you do?
After getting over my distress at being pink (no, not all girls like pink), I’d fly and run and swim and enjoy having a different body.
