Search grinned evilly at the quip/question, while Burn shoved some writhing, squirming creature back into her pack.
“When the exes are fighting the kids get to play.” She laughed.
That’s nice to know, he was hoping for more context, he really was…
“Uh. Is that thunder?” Burn interjected, and Nathair glanced up. Then at Burn, oh yes he was blind…
“No, it’s a dragon flying above us,” He said absolutely seriously, stumbling back a step as if nervous. “The louder they are the more likely they’ll attack, we should find some shelter.”
He wanted to see how many people would fall for this and how long, so he darted a look around anxiously until he spied a seemingly uninhabited building.
“This way, quickly now!”
“Bite you?” Leana suggested, in a slightly strained voice, trying not to squirm. She wasn’t panicking, that was good, but she needed to be able to react faster. She might in an actual emergency but he couldn’t gauge that…
“But…you might not taste too good.” She added in a cute, a-matter-of-fact small voice.
I…should hope not!?
Alessio flushed, not sure what to do not sure what to say, trying to get back to the training part of training but…how?
“That…that could work, but you’d need to take advantage of that moment to break free and injure your opponent enough that pursuit wouldn’t be a viable option…” Alessio released her, flustered. How was he supposed to train Leana he couldn’t hurt her she was so…so…innocent.
“Enough.” Sir Scary commanded approaching them both. Um…was he in trouble?
“Mrs. Leana, isn’t it? This battle isn’t a strength vs strength. If you can overpower Alessio, that is great, but inefficient.”
Was he…helping? Sir Scary was being helpful. Aw he did care!
“Use your strength in different ways.” Sir Scary continued pointing at Alessio’s knee. “For example; positioned correctly and with enough strength, you can knock Alessio to the floor. The possibility you’d go down with him is high, but you’ll still leave Alessio stunned. In a case like that, recovery speed takes priority.”
Well, it wasn’t very likely Leana would actually succeed at this point – if it were an actual fight that is. Should he let her knock him to the floor? Wait the idea was to actually teach her…
“Or, you could use your spare hand and target his face. it doesn’t have to be a fist. It doesn’t have to be precise.” Ok good advice. “Hit an eye and you’ll leave him temporarily blind, if the blow doesn’t kill him.”
Wait…wait a second!?!?!? Alessio was having second thoughts about this, maybe this wasn’t a great idea…
“Either way, you could weaken his grip.”
Um…
It was pouring.
Well, to say it was pouring would be a gross understatement it was hailing water by the ton, it was blinding the world, he thought he saw a boat full of animals floating across the streets.
Needless to say, his pretend sense of urgency sudden became very real as he tried doors of every seemingly empty building.
They finally made it inside some building and Nathair shook himself like a wet cat. He was freezing now, that was glorious. Gloriously dripping wet, soaked to the bone probably dying of the cold – not that Nathair was melodramatic or anything. Not sure where Alessio got that theatrical sass as a kid.
“Well I certainly hope there’s something warm around here,” He announced, it was too dark to really see inside. He swiped at blankets coating several surfaces, accidentally uncovering a mirror…
“Mm…” Nathair touched the mirror and suddenly everything shifted.
“Welcome to the Trail of Betrayal and Deceit.”
“I did not do this!”
