What did you guys think of chapter 4, 5, and 6? Did you have any favorite parts or lines? Did you recognize any writing techniques Tolkien used? Any dislikes or likes you want to explain?

I’m not quite done with chapter six yet, but I’m starting to appreciate Tolkien’s use of suspense. He waits until the last moment to get Bilbo out of trouble. One example is his escape from the tunnels. He squeezed out at the last possible second. The same was true when he ran from Gollum. I know he escapes in the end, but it still made me tense up.  Probably because I know how generally helpless Bilbo is. XD
