    Two completely random questions:
How would you write a name that sounded like ‘La–v–na
    Laveena? Lavena? Lavyna? Something else?
Secondly, when you read/hear the word ‘placid,’ do you think calm, relaxed, and peaceful? Or do you think calm, unreadble, great aplomb, and like a lesser version of stoney? My mind is trained to think the latter, but my younger sister claims that the former is what she thinks of. This is somewhat problematic for me because I used ‘placid’ quite often. xD
Oh, and I’m really enjoying Gilded Blood. Liorah’s a wonderful character, and the personality and culture of the tribes is fantastic.

Hmm, let me think of some spellings. Laveyna, Lavina, Lavinia, and those you mentioned…
I like Lavyna best! That’s a really pretty name, whatever spelling you choose!
Well, I always think of placid as calm and contented, and just generally completely unbothered. It does have the connotation of being calm for me. You can always search it in your document and check if it fits, so it shouldn’t be too much work, even if you misused it a few times 🙂

Thank you! I’m so glad you like it! Your comments have been really encouraging and helpful so far 😀

      • Lavyna was my fav as well, but I was just worried that readers would pronounce it La–vin–a.
Well, that’s just great. xD I’ll keep that connotation in mind from now on, but I’m fairly certain that everytime I’ve used that word was to mean calm and composed, showing little or no emotion–like a stone. So, yeah, I suppose I might have to tweak a few of them.

        Glad to hear it!

Wait, you’re not supposed to pronounce it “La-vi-na”? I can’t think of any spelling that would sound like “La-v-na” except just that, Lavna. (Maybe Lahvna, or Lavnah but that looks a bit odd.) Sorry for the misunderstanding XD
Honestly, I like the sound of “La-vi-na” more. I find “Lavna” rather odd to pronounce, but that may be just me.
LOL, that’s happened to me too! I’ve often found myself googling words just to be absolutely sure they mean what I’ve always thought they meant XD
