To Speak

February 27, 2020

You touch where none have touched,

Catch my future as it flutters through.

Cradling it, softly you ask,

“You all right?”

I cannot speak.

You see what none have seen,

Catch each emotion as it flickers across.

Smiling knowingly, you ask,

“What are you thinking?”

I will not speak.

You dare where none have dared,

Catch my hand as it shakes.

Lacing it into yours, you ask,

“What do you want?”

I shouldn’t.

I am exposed, known,

As time holds still and understanding wavers.

You fall silent.

I speak.

I love this. A lot of emotion packed into a little poem.
