‘Your friend, I don’t have any idea who you are talking about.’

Alessio’s head pounded, he had no idea where he was. He was trying to get his bearings again, that crazy idiot–! It was Alessio’s fault, he should’ve seen the river. Should’ve reacted any other way, everything was a blur.

He was just scared. He was so so scared, he lost his friend, no telling where and everything was dangerous. He didn’t even know what was going on. Where was he?

There was something soft underneath him, so soft it made him feel like he was sinking in it. He didn’t like that sensation at all, but he didn’t move, he didn’t even open his eyes the moment a groan alerted him to someone else’s presence in the room.

    “…wo alright?”

“Yeah,” The robber’s voice. “I am fine.”

Alessio pursed his lips, trying to calm down. Furious at the stranger for putting him through this…whatever this was…? But mostly, just terrified of being helpless again.

“Can I talk with my friend in private for second?”

Alessio braced himself to keep his wits on edge. Trying to figure out how much he could avoid letting on and still get invaluable information. Sizing up his opponent.

He wasn’t much older than Alessio, maybe even the same age as him. Black hair with flecks of white and mismatched eyes, not a particularly heavy build but he knew firsthand that didn’t make him a weakling in a fight. He eyed the stranger warily.

“The peaceful solution is always the best in a situation like this.” The young robber said “If you attack, I will use my power to take you down. If that happens, the attendants will call the police and we both will go to jail. Understood?”

He didn’t say a word for a while, glaring at the other. Powers? So he was an ability-born too, in whatever world this was. He couldn’t care less about ‘jail’, any situation he got into was bad. There was only one thing he had to focus on right now.

“Where’s my friend?” Alessio muttered stubbornly.

“I told you,” He said, frustrated “I don’t know. If he was in the bank, he is probably with my brother.”

    “Where’s your brother now?”

With a sigh, the robber got up, ignoring the question.

“I don’t know if you’ll trust what I say, but that hardly matters now. If the police find us, they will arrest us. Me for being Arsene Lupin and you for suspicion of being an accomplice.”

    Really?

“Well,” The robber, Arsene yawned lazily “I’ll be on the deck if you need me.”

“Bilateral carotid compression.” Alessio said abruptly, causing the other to pause a second. “if I blocked the jugular veins in your neck you would be unconscious before you could make a sound. If I shifted my grip to restrict air from the arrestee, you would die in a matter of moments.”

Two can play at this game.

“Your brother and his friends saw you kidnap me, whose story do you think they’ll believe play victim?”

He could not lose his only lead finding his friend again.
