So I’ve watched this thread grow and never once really figured out how to imagine my characters as memes, but I’ll give it a little ol’ whirl.

(Also forgive my stupendously antiquated music tastes…)

(And the fact that I’m jumping in 20 pages in and have never really introduced any of my characters) 😛

My characters describe themselves in a single quote:

Kyreleis: “If one cannot be both feared and loved, it is best to be feared.”

Elkenbrand: “I’m a weasel with a silver tongue who works for a snake.”

    Erhard: “A knight never yields!”

Fritz: “Ah, he won’t miss that – or that, or – ooh, shiny!”

Angelin: “A woman’s work is never ever done.”

    Rachel: “Unless she has servants!”

Myrrha: “Please. Stop. Thinking. So. LOUDLY.

My characters as songs (and poems):

Countess Kyreleis von Eisenfaust: Iron, Cold Iron – Rudyard Kipling (performed by Leslie Fish)

Baron Victor von Elkenbrand: Bad – Royal Deluxe

    Erhard: Warriors – Imagine Dragons

    Fritz: Where There’s A Whip, There’s a Way – / If I Were a Carpenter – Bobby Darin

Angelin: It’s So Easy – Linda Ronstadt

Rachel von Elkenbrand: You’re No Good – Linda Ronstadt (or, if she’s in a bad mood, Rabbia e Tarantella – Ennio Morricone)

    Myrrha: The Wolf – SIAMES

If 15th century Europe had fortune cookies…:

Angelin, reading fortune: “If you kill a killer, the amount of killers in the world remains the same.”

Fritz: “Huh. Neat. But, what if I’m already a killer?”

Erhard: “No, wait – well those aren’t the same, you see -”

Rachel: “Fritz that’s terrible! Why would you joke about that?”

Myrrha: “I mean, he’s not wrong. Hey, who took my cookie?”

Kyreleis: “Unambitious. Why stop at one? If you’re going to murder a man you may as well eliminate his heirs and usurp his lands and titles to enrich your own demesne.”

Victor: “I take it you speak from experience, your ladyship?”

Myrrha: “Fritz! I knew it! Don’t hide it, I can read your thoughts!”

Erhard: “Give it back Fritz, you know how sensitive she is-”

    Myrrha: “You ate my-that’s-it-you’re-dead!”
