@anne_the_noob14 Yeah! That would work! To be more unique, though, it’d be fun to make up an animal. Maybe something that’s closely tied to their mythology and the idols they worship (though in reality, it’s just another animal).
I’m comfortable with Culture A worshipping idols as long as we’re not portraying it as right, which we wouldn’t be if we were showing the consequences (the people are going to starve). So yeah, I think this would be good!
Hmm…well, here’s what I can come up with for a potential plot:
- The protagonist could be the leader of a village (who has his own family and young children, to make it personal) which is Culture B, and the first scene could be him meeting with the leader of a village of Culture A. The protagonist could try to convince him that they need to eat the animals, but the leader of Culture A will flat out refuse and kick the protag out.
- Some negative consequence to leader of Culture A’s decision (e.g., someone dies)
- The protagonist tries to convince leader of Culture A again, but leader of Culture A sends him away again, even more angry and possibly with threats.
- The protagonist decides to sneak into Culture A’s territory and take one of the animals to bring back to his village.
- He gets caught (either while he’s catching it or after he’s brought it back) and the leader of Culture A says he must be punished.
- Somehow (not sure about how this would happen) the leader of Culture A ends up realizing he’s allowing people to die unnecessarily and makes a compromise and decides that for this one time they can eat the animal.
What do you guys think? Do want to go with this, and if so, any thoughts on how to tweak it to make it better?
