I have not read those stories no, but I’ve heard of them and they sound interesting.  The picture is actually the owl form of a wereowl side character in my urban fantasy story (her name is Cyrene Alistair and she works as a barista in a coffee shop run by Nicolas Flamel).

As for Virtus falling on Bren, go for it.  Just be warned Bren may react violently.
