And your last post really showed how different Gavril and Liorah are, yet how they really go so well together; if you know what I mean! XD

Thank you! Yeah, Gavril is a lot more careful and considerate XD I find it kind of funny that he’s much closer to the stereotypical ‘hero’ character, but Liorah’s the main character. She’s just more… interesting? XD

Liorah

I barely stifled a snicker when I saw the man’s face was smeared with soot. He looked bewildered for a second, then cleared his throat and grinned.

“Howdy, name’s Cart. Dancrow Cart.” He held out his hand to Gavril, noticed it was dirty, and clumsily wiped it on his black clothing. Gavril took it and smiled, confident as usual.

“Nice costume,” Dancrow said, looking Gavril up and down. I scowled. Well, that was rude, especially coming from a man who looked as though he’d crawled out of a coal mine. Gavril didn’t miss a beat and grinned, not in the least offended. Or he was good at hiding it. Our tribe should be grateful he was the crown prince and not me.

Before Gavril could reply, Dancrow continued,

“And where exactly am I? I have no idea how I got here, so I can’t tell you, but I do know that I would like to get out.”

I snorted.

“Welcome to our world. We’re trapped in goodness-knows-where, none of us seem to come from the same country, and none of us know how we ended up here.” I reconsidered my statement and glanced at Gavril. “Except us, and we can’t find the exit.”

Gavril was on the point of interrupting me but I spoke right through it.

“And about costumes, I must admit I admire yours. I’ve seldom seen someone imitate a chunk of coal so well. Dan-crow is quite the apt name.“

“Liorah! Manners,” Gavril said, shocked.

“Manners are for diplomats and crown princes,” I said, pointedly.

“You’re going to cause a war one day by being sarcastic to the wrong person,” Gavril said, exasperated.

He turned back to Dancrow and tried to neutralize my first impression.

“I’m Gavril, and that is my sister, Liorah,” he said, with a sigh.

I grinned. I enjoyed annoying Gavril. It was something I’d become quite good at.

Okay, I can’t wait to see how Dancrow reacts to that! XD Liorah seems bent on making enemies XD
