At this point, I believe (unless I miscounted) Story #1 has 7 votes and story #2 has 4. (and @scribbles is undecided 😛 )

A lot of the listed things have to do with finding warmth and comfort from the setting sun. It always makes me think of a character finding closure in missing someone close to them, as the sun is closure to the day. However that’s a bit cliche.
