I was thinking semi-specific topics, across subjects, that are specific enough to not be huge but broad enough that each of us could theoretically pick out a different sub-topic to focus on. The breadth could be something like “England in the 80s,” for instance. I’m thinking we might not want to get too much into modern politics or religion because it could end up polarizing within the group (hopefully not, but it’s probably wiser to be pretty cautious about it at least until the members of the group are all pretty familiar with each other). But things like science, history, geography, mythology, etc., and possibly past politics or religion. My sister and I brainstormed a list of topics last night (some of them are lousy, some of them could be fun), but the plan was for everyone in the group to pick topics they’d be interested in, too.How much writing would be up to the person writing, I’d think. Anything from a brief summary of some of the coolest things they learned to a full essay, depending on how much time they have and how much they found interesting about the topic.
I was thinking each person would have their own blog post for each topic and we’d spread them out about two posts per day for the final week of a month. But that detail is still open for discussion as one of the topics for the group to decide as a group.
