It looks amazing, guys! I’m sorry I couldn’t contribute as much as I would have liked, but you guys are awesome! I really like how it turned out.

ProfessorSJB replied to the topic {Story Theory – Week 10} Strong Female Characters in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 7 years, 6 months ago
As someone who loves karate and pretends that all these years training should make a good karate-ka, I would say I like strong female characters, but like you said realistic ones. (Nevermind I know a few girls in my dojo that have actually taken on six people, including guys, at once and a few minutes later knocked them all out of action to the…[Read more]

ProfessorSJB replied to the topic {Story Theory – Week 9} Discussion: How Much Research Should Fantasy Writers Do? in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 7 years, 6 months ago
Research? I research all the time. From, how long does it take for a person to die from sword wounds to types of governments to desserts that used to be made a few centuries ago. Frankly, I don’t think there isn’t a genre that does not need research. Like, how terrible it would be to go on and later find out the way you described something (a…[Read more]

Totally. I might disappear for a while, but that just means I am single-handedly demolishing whatever assignments I should have submitted a month ago and writing pleas to my teachers.

ProfessorSJB replied to the topic Edits of my first novel in the forum Accountability & Achievements 7 years, 7 months ago
I just realized how suicidal it is to have set the end date of edit for November. NaNoWriMo, remember, Sophia? Would you all be so kind and let me extend the deadline to the end of this month instead…?

ProfessorSJB replied to the topic NaNoWriMo in the forum Accountability & Achievements 7 years, 7 months ago
Thank you all for your support! I have survived my first NaNoWriMo. That was *grits teeth* enjoyable. Honestly. (And now I will pay for all the studies I’ve put off. Nevermind the mark I’ll get for Humanities…)

ProfessorSJB replied to the topic A Christmas Proposition in the forum Meraki Writing Discussions 7 years, 7 months ago
Not sure if I can write something, but will try!
1. Blue. At all times.
2. Cityscapes and lavender fields/hills. (They totally do not contradict each other.)
3. I’m supposed to say pizza but I have food restriction on dairy and wheat. So ramen made of brown rice. (Actually, just kidding. No ramen, no life!)
4.…[Read more]

Lol, I like Artemis Fowl, too. Although I haven’t really finished the series.

ProfessorSJB replied to the topic {Story Theory – Week 8} Seven Tips for Writing Unique Characters in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 7 years, 7 months ago
I just realized that one of my characters has green eyes and dark hair, whoops.
But never fear! He is (hopefully) nowhere being close to Harry or Percy.
- He’s like a child prodigy, meaning he gets bored at things easily.
- He sometimes works for his father’s empirical finance business, so he’s a good businessman–it’s hard not to get dazzled…

ProfessorSJB replied to the topic {Story Theory – Week 7} World Building in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 7 years, 7 months ago
WORDBUILDING=Pintrest Boards
Unfortunately (or fortunately) that is exactly what I do. I go hunting around for different pieces of my world and dump them in one place, then come back later when I’m lost in my own world (meaning when I’m not sure where exactly I am in the world I built myself). My current WIP takes place in Tokyo,…[Read more]

ProfessorSJB replied to the topic WORD WAR – November NaNo Special!!! in the forum Announcements 7 years, 7 months ago
I so totally did not cram it at the last minute. *looks at NaNo schedule, rips it into shreds*
I managed another word vomit of 50228 words, meaning I’d have a Hil Vaag-dur of a time rewriting and deleting most of them.
And hurrah to everyone who actually wrote something (never mind the quality) this month!

ProfessorSJB replied to the topic {Story Theory – Week 5} Plotter vs Pantster (and why I think they don't exist) in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 7 years, 7 months ago
This is me, the person who had been planning the novel for years…so I guess I’m a planner. I am sometimes a pantster, although that is rather rare. For some, I plan very detailedly (such as my WIP novel as of current for NaNo), and for others, I have a very loose structure. Although, I do a lot of planning in my head like you guys mentioned. But…[Read more]

It was basically the same thing being an agent. Never look back.
<p style=”text-align: right;”>Anne, Chapter 1.04</p>I will keep that in mind! Btw, does anyone know how exactly the buddy thing works out?

@jane-maree, thanks for the advice!

Are you doing NaNoWriMo this year?
Can I be buddies with you too? I’m not entirely sure how it all works out…
