    Hi @steward-of-the-pen,

My current work in progress (WIP), still not used to the shorthand acronyms, is a quest novel which tends to lend itself to missteps, re-routes and changing directions.  It goes off the grid and off the rails in many cases, but I have found that sometimes that is the very place I need to be to find what I am looking for.  Often times in our daily Christian walk we find ourselves in situations we never planned to be, and sometimes there is a reason for that.  I am knowingly breaking some of the “writing convention rules” with this story, because I am exploring the concepts of how life even for the blood-bought, born again and called forth can seem to get messy.  We do have an enemy that thrives on creating chaos within his tether, but God reminds us to bring ALL our cares to Him, and that He is the mender of all things (hearts and minds included) broken.
There are countless books of Christian fiction pieces which seek to evangelize the lost, but frankly, not a lot of the lost come to our books unless they have been beaten down so hard that they are humble enough to seek answers outside of the world answers.  It struck me a long time ago that most of the readers of Christian fiction, or at least those shelved in that section of the bookstores, are Christian.  Evangelical fiction usually ends with a major character having a crisis, an epiphany and coming to Christ.  But that is not the end.  It is only the beginning.  Some Christian fiction focuses in on a particular virtue and the story fleshes that out, but I find that there is very little being written for the Christian that takes the main character who has accepted Christ towards the steps into the hard challenges ahead of them.
We do not disciple as well as we should.  I understand that in general people do not want to be preached at, but this is not typically the case with believers who have come to know the truth if they know the message is delivered in genuine love.
“18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” [1 Corinthians 1:18 KJV]

So my quest involves Christian believers and is not intended to evangelize but to deal with issues of spiritual warfare, contending with false doctrines that seem to be harmless but have just enough poison to lure people away from the truth.  Let’s face it.  Few Christians actually read their bible, but are more content to have some minister do it for them or judge things by what makes sense of sounds good.  This makes even the church primed for deception.

“3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away [their] ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” [2 Timothy 4:3-4 KJV]

In my fictive world, as in the real world, the truth of the Word is transcendent, it breaks all barriers and resonates true in every universe, real or imagined.  It lives and breathes and gives life to the soul, and it arms the Warrior who has taken the time to commit it to memory.

“11 I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” [Psalm 119:11 NLT]

Imagine a world between the Surface World we see, and the World we are destined for.  This Mid-World is a metaphysical place and so I have based it upon the structure of how the Lord created us.  Body (Physical) + Soul (Interactive between Physical and Thought and Personhood) + Spirit (Designed to fellowship with our Creator and renew and inform the other components of our person).

This quest journey is like the Christian walk.  Discovery is part of it.  Redemption is its mission.
