Excelent analysis!
I was just thinking the other day how I would like to see less of the “strong female warrior” type and more realistic women in stories. I would like to see more strong female characters. Where are the girls that are just being girls? I don’t mean the girly-girls. Just like there’s more to guys than explosions and bodily harm – there’s more to girls than flowers and tea parties. Where are the fictional women who just want to play their God-given role well?
I don’t know. Maybe I just don’t see it because I’m a guy.
All that to say: I think you have a point here. We should write with extra attention to making our characters real first. Because let’s be honest – the only strong female warrior-type “characters” I’ve known in real life all ended up very masculine. Just sayin’…
