    @eden-anderson @r-m-archer @bama-rose @daeus-lamb

    @literatureforthelight understands what I’m trying to say. It’s really only complicated when you think about it. You have to feel an idea like this. What you’d be doing basically, is showing an event from the MC’s past and comparing it to the MC’s present by showing it side by side. Thus showing the similarities and emphasizing the differences.

    Is that any clearer? Or did I just confuse everyone else?

    We wouldn’t have to do this with superheros, or even with the “villain becomes the hero” idea. They were just the things that fit best in my mind.

    We could do the misunderstanding idea that @daeus-lamb posed, showing the MC in conversation with someone who hurt him; giving the MC flashbacks from a painful conversation before, emphasizing the difference in mood between the two conversations.

    For example, while the conversation in the present might be relatively calm, you could flash back to a very similar conversation where tempers flare and voices are raised. Thus showing how much healing has happened in the space between, and how much healing is happening. The flashbacks wouldn’t even have to be very extensive. Just a clip of dialog here and there.

    I kind of wrote this with more of an emotional wound in mind, though. Mostly because misunderstandings are hard to do in a way that’s relatable to both sides. In my mind, at least. Usually, when I come across a misunderstanding in a story, I find myself picking sides: “How dumb can Whats-his-name be? Can’t he see that he’s hurting Whats-her-face?” Or: “Just get over it already, Whats-her-face! Whats-his-name was just being stupid.” Or in the worst cases, both. XD

    But if we could do it well, it would be worth it.
