*slides in through back door* Uh, I has lyrical poem for ya’ll. It’s kinda rap style but I still imagine myself singing it, so, um. *glances around awkwardly* I hate to interrupt the hymn singing party though. I like the hymns. 😀

For the music, I kinda imagine that it’s like Lindsey Stirling’s Don’t Let This Feeling Fade for the chorus and that the end is like the end to TobyMac’s Lose My Soul. Enjoy!

    Don’t even love,
    Don’t even love this world.

Them broken people, they lovin’ the things that burnin’.

    Don’t even call,
    Don’t even call that phone,
    Cause all you’ll get,
All you’ll get is dial tone.

Love the people that God has brought into your life,
But don’t have anything to do with the idols that they prize,
    What they prize,
For that, they’ll cut you up and watch you bleed,
Deepest wounds from the people close to me.

    Don’t stop lovin’
    Don’t stop lovin’ mate,
But make sure your love is in the right place.
Make sure that Jesus is in your heart first,
Make sure that he’s the one showing you what you’re worth
Because lookin’ for the admiration of other people is a chain,
    A stain
    It will drive you insane.

    Don’t even love,
    Don’t even love this world.

Them broken people, they lovin’ the things that burnin’.

    Don’t even call,
    Don’t even call that phone,
    Cause all you’ll get,
All you’ll get is dial tone.

Don’t get me wrong and use this as an excuse for hate,
I wanna give you somethin’ to strengthen your faith,
    Strengthen your faith
    When everything’s against you,
When you’re all alone in the scene because that’s how they raised you.

Remember, that in Christ you’re never alone,
Look for love from him seated on his throne,
Don’t go lookin’ for love from peeps cause they will let you down,
Don’t get taken by their idols and let them take you out.

You’re never going to earn love from people,
    Listen to me on this,
It’s a waste of your time. But if you’re
In Christ, you’re a new creation,
Loved by God and sometimes even by your fellow believers.
But the world will try to fool you with all sorts of things that look
    Like love, feel like love.
I’m here to tell you that those things aren’t real.
Don’t go chasing after stuff because it’s not you,
You’ll get mad when you don’t get it and hurt others.
You’ll get mad when they don’t serve your idol.
    Don’t do this.
    Don’t do this to us.

Full disclosure: I was inspired by @h-jones thread here: https://storyembers.org/forums/topic/question-what-the-dickens-is-true-love/ though the definition of love I used in the thread isn’t the one that I used in the poem. The poem definition is broader: it refers to people thinking that they are benefiting something, going off what they think is good for someone else rather than what the Bible says is good for them, as well. It just means affection and commitment to the good of something, without necessarily putting truth in the picture.
